Civil aviation is one of two major categories of flying, representing all non-military aviation, both private and commercial.
The Piper J-3 Cub, with its distinctive yellow paint scheme, is regarded as one of the most popular and best known light aircraft of all time. The small, simple, light airplane was built between 1937 and 1947 by the Piper Aircraft Co. With the growing realization that the U.S. might be drawn into war, the Civilian Pilot Training Program(CPTP) was formed to train new pilots for possible service in the U.S. military.
